WhatsApp Business API Pricing
When it came to WhatsApp Business API pricing, previously there was no charge for session messages. WhatsApp simply charges businesses for the number of messages they initiate and send to users.
But now, WhatsApp charges its API users using a new conversation-based pricing model.
WhatsApp charges businesses per conversation over a 24-hour period. WhatsApp divides such conversations into two categories with different price tiers.
WhatsApp Business API Pricing: WhatsApp Conversation Rates Explained
Compared to sending messages or traditionally opening and closing tickets, conversations help build relationships with customers. WhatsApp API charges are based on 24-hour conversation sessions to provide a faster and more conversational experience to customers.
Conversation rates vary depending on the user’s country code. But what is a WhatsApp user in this context? A business is a person or organization that sends a message. Current WhatsApp Business pricing divides conversations into two categories:
User-initiated
These conversations begin when the business responds to the user’s first message. The business’s first response starts with a 24-hour session window.
All messages exchanged between the business and the user within this 24-hour window are consolidated into a single conversation. These messages offer a single charge.
Business-initiated
These conversations start when the business first sends a message to the user. These messages are counted after the 24-hour window expires.
These conversations require businesses to communicate with users only with pre-approved message templates.
